This 60‑second interview edit focuses on telling a nonfiction story using the interviewee’s voice combined with B‑roll. The goal of this project was to edit the interview into a concise narrative and cover it almost entirely with visuals that support what the subject is talking about. The final piece follows the required structure: interview audio, B‑roll, one brief interview shot, and a closing title.

I handled all filming, including setting up the VJ kit, using a lav or stick mic, adjusting white balance, exposure, and focus, and capturing all required B‑roll shots. I conducted the interview, planned the questions, and recorded clean audio using proper mic placement. In editing, I selected the strongest soundbites, built the story from the interviewee’s answers, and layered B‑roll over the audio to create a smooth, visually supported narrative.

I learned how important it is to record clean audio and ask strong interview questions so I have usable material in the edit. One challenge was trimming the interview down to exactly 60 seconds while keeping the story clear, but it taught me how to edit tightly and purposefully.

The strongest part of this edit is how the B‑roll supports the interviewee’s story. The visuals help clarify what they’re talking about and make the piece feel more polished and professional.

If I could revise it, I would capture even more B‑roll so I had more options during editing. I’d also work on smoothing out the pacing of the soundbites to make the story flow even more naturally.
